About once a month I have the following e-mail conversation:
Them:
"Hello Mr. Smith!
I am _____ and I represent the hip, innovative publication called __________
and we'd like you to write and/or draw and/or paint something for us."
Me:
"Ok, no problem, there you go. (see attachment)"
Them:
"Hey, um, this is great but, um, could you send us something that's more like
stuff people have already seen before?"
Me:
"Why would I want to do that?"
Them:
"Hey, wow, yeah, that;s the spirit! Um, we'd still love to have you, let us
know if you ever decide to do anything normal, ok?"
Keep it up, Zak. I think you already know that you are one of the premier artists in 21st Century America--I could put in lots of other shit, but there's no need. If you sent me anything I'd mat it, frame it and put it on my wall.
