CARL D’ALVIA
Statuary
September 12 - October 10, 1998
Jessica Fredericks Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of sculpture by CARL D’ALVIA. Mr. D’Alvia will exhibit three life-size figures carved by hand in pottery plaster. This will be the artist’s first solo exhibition.
Carl D’Alvia has carved over 1500 pounds of plaster to sculpt three figures titled Ms. Trouble, Bad Guy, and Rat Dog. They make a unique family unit. Armed with the most up-to-date weaponry and dressed to flex their muscles, they seem primed for the urban frontier-- certainly more Buffy the Vampire Slayer than Bernini. Yet the subject matter seems to underline the classical forms and the astonishing technique in which these works are made.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 6pm. For further information and/or photographs please contact the gallery by telephone at (212) 633-6555 or fax at (212) 367-9502.
