Today’s show: “An Unlikely Friendship: John Wesley in Conversation with Donald Judd” is on view at Alison Jacques Gallery in London through Saturday, May 25. The two-person exhibition is the first in a series at the gallery exploring overlooked artist friendships.
Wesley and Judd were friends for over 35 years, and Wesley told curator Alanna Heiss in 2000 that the two spoke about “anything but art.” Judd wrote about Wesley’s work and invited him to contribute a gallery installation to the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, which was realized in 2004, ten years after Judd’s death. The show brings together work by Wesley made between 1983 and 1990 and work by Judd made between 1969 and 1990.
