Justin Craun’s paintings parallel cyberspace’s amorphous landscape. Traditional figure/ground relationships fold into nonhierarchical painterly gestures. His figures are unfixed and fluid. Balance is mysteriously achieved. In his work, disparate elements converge to create an impossible reality.
Justin Craun (b. 1982) lives and works in Brooklyn NY. He has had solo exhibitions at Franklin Art Works, Minneapolis, One in the Other, London, and Fredericks & Freiser, New York. He was included in The Incomplete at Chelsea Art Museum curated by Hubert Neumann and in Unreal: Altered Perspectives in Painting at Saatchi Gallery, London.
