Press Release

Thomas Trosch

Paintings: New and Old

April 20th through May 26th, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, April 20, 6-8 PM

Fredericks & Freiser is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings by Thomas Trosch.  Over the past 25 years Trosch has developed a cult following for his wildly energetic and curiously sensitive oil paintings. Trosch began his career in New York and Los Angeles; where he exhibited regularly. Now, he lives and works in Baltimore and rarely releases his work. This will be his first solo show in New York since 2009.

Trosch typically paints society matrons in cluttered art-filled homes, galleries, and pool parties.  Intuitively rendered and lavishly painted, his eccentric tableaus suggest multiple levels of reading. In this current body of work, Trosch pairs his wealthy women alongside the male presence of the bare–chested artist. High society and bohemia come together in brilliant passages of painterly excess.

About The Artist:

Thomas Trosch (b.1955) has had solo exhibitions at Andrea Rosen Gallery 2, New York, Jose Freire Fine Art, New York, Black Dragon Society, Los Angeles, and Richard Telles, Los Angeles (two-person).  Last month he was included in Jeffrey Deitch’s “Florine Stettheimer Collapsed Time Salon” at the Armory Show. This will be his seventh solo exhibition at Fredericks & Freiser.
